Neston is a small market town on the Wirral Peninsula overlooking the Dee Estuary and the Cheshire Plain, with the RSPB's Burton Mere Wetlands reserve and the ancient Denhall Quay salt marsh directly below the town. The estuary marshes carry sea lavender, sea aster and cord grass in late summer; the established gardens and churchyard of St Mary and St Helen's Parish Church provide sycamore and hawthorn in spring; and the hedged farmland of the Wirral Country Park to the north gives excellent white clover and bramble through the summer months. Swarms around Neston appear in the older garden trees of the town centre near High Street and Liverpool Road, on the hawthorn and blackthorn of the Wirral Way coastal path south towards Parkgate, in the salt-marsh elder scrub along the Dee foreshore at Little Neston, and in roof spaces of the Victorian cottages near the parish church.

The Sefton Coast sand dunes contribute an unusual assortment of forage — sea holly, restharrow, viper's bugloss, wild thyme — feeding urban bees along the coast. Horse chestnut and sycamore in Sefton Park, Calderstones and Birkenhead Park give the early flow; the lime avenues of south Liverpool and Wallasey carry the main June flow. Bramble blankets the Mersey Forest plantings; rosebay willowherb flushes Everton and Kirkby brownfield. A late coastal sea-buckthorn crop at Formby and Crosby is a known supplementary flow before the ivy closes the year.
