Llangrannog is a small coastal village tucked into a steep wooded cwm on the Ceredigion Heritage Coast, midway between New Quay and Cardigan. The beach is enclosed by high gorse-covered cliffs; the single street of cottages gives way immediately to hedged lanes rising through hawthorn and hazel to the open clifftop. The surrounding area is characterised by small dairy farms, ancient oak woodland on the shaded stream valleys and Urdd Gobaith Cymru's national youth camp on the clifftop above. Teifiside Beekeepers' Association serves this stretch of coast.
Local collectors handle swarms on the gorse and sea-cliff scrub above the beach, in the ivy-covered garden walls and sheltered cottage gardens of the village lane, in the oak-lined stream gullies running down from Penrhiw and Pontgarreg, and in the eaves and chimneys of the older stone properties in the cwm.

Coastal gorse gives an early start at Aberystwyth and New Quay; blackthorn and hawthorn run behind. Sycamore and hawthorn are the backbone of May. The Cambrian uplands contribute bell and ling heather from late July — a modest but reliable crop — and bilberry in the sessile oakwoods adds a quiet early-summer supplement. White clover on hill pasture and bramble in deep Welsh hedges carry midsummer. Coastal sea-campion and thrift add an unusual saline note, and ivy closes the year on whitewashed cottage walls.
